I-Spect Training for Wicid
Nine young people from Rhondda Cynon Taff (RCT) took part in a 4-day residential at Margam Park, Swansea in February to undergo CLIConline’s I-Spect Training.  I-Spect is the national team of young inspectors who undertake assessment of youth information for youth support services.

Once trained, the young people can be invited in to assess local youth information.  They are an integral part of the process of awarding the youth provider with the Welsh Government’s I-Spect Kitemark.

Through lots of fun role play and activities they have learned about the skills need to be an assessor, such as listening skills, questioning styles and feedback techniques.

Youth Work Conference in Caerphilly
The Youth4U editorial team along with everyone from The Basement and the Health Inclusion Project attended the second annual Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Youth Work Conference held at Ty Penalta.

At the conference, an update was given on the progress of youth work over the past year and plans for the future of youth work in the Caerphilly County Borough. There was also a series of workshops for participants to choose from.

Throughout the evening, the Youth4U editorial team was very supportive by welcoming all workers at reception and enrolling them for their chosen workshops for the evening. They also played a massive role by directing everybody to their workshops and then supported the workers by helping to deliver their different workshops.

Bwsted partners with Real2Reel
Bwsted is now working with the Arts department in Bridgend to promote opportunities for young people in relation to creative media.

With new visual mixing equipment and a new recording studio, the Bwsted project has paired up with the Real2Reel team in order to support the development of local bands.

On a weekly basis, members of the editorial group interview local bands and artists in order to post them on to the Bwsted site for young people to view. Whilst interviewing, the bands and artists will also perform live in the studio to show Bridgend how determined they are to promote their talents.

So far Bwsted has interviewed Matt Wilson, Patricia Coates, Written in Kings, The Keys, Endo and Follow Suit. There will be more to come, visit Bwsted to find out more.
