Meet Pat, our new Companies Administrator. Here, she tells us a bit about herself and her first impressions:

“I have worked in this sector for a long time and was involved with ProMo-Cymru from it’s very first days at the S Wales Co-operative development Association where I was the administrator. I then went on to work as a community/co-operative development officer covering mainly the Cardiff/Cardiff Bay/Vale of Glamorgan amd Ebbw Vale areas. So this is kind of full circle for me – coming back to ProMo-Cymru and I am looking forward to it. ProMo-Cymru’s staff are all committed to their work and their customers and are definitely making a difference.

I have a background of dance and the Arts as well as community development and some youth work and I hope my skills and experience will be helpful to ProMo. I am a local community councillor and ran a Cub Scout group for over 10 years. This allowed me to get involved with my community and learn about the people within it. I was Project Manager on the Enterprise rehearsal Project for 6 years and this showed me that given the support and the first breaks people who are unemployed want to help themselves – they just need a little assistance – a place to start, someone to talk to and run things past, some belief and confidence – this is what ProMo-Cymru is giving them.

As a previous company trustee I was involved with the first days of the Ebbw Vale Institute and other projects and this job will give me the opportunity to become more involved and to contribute fully to the developments which are so exciting. The Institute in Ebbw Vale is an amazing building, which once up and running will allow the area to keep it’s heritage and to use it to regenerate the town and it’s residents. The people I have met at meetings there are all so enthusiastic and supportive.”
