Ebbw Vale Institute (EVi) held an open day for the community in August, with families all over the borough coming along for free face-painting, drumming workshops, art activities and bouncy castle entertainment.

BBC Radio Wales presenter Roy Noble officially opened EVi following extensive refurbishment financially supported by the Big Lottery Community Asset Transfer Fund. With this fund, EVi was able to open a state of the art recording studio, a revamped 300 capacity licensed venue with bar, Kahve cultural cafe and catering facilities, dance/music rehearsal space, office rental and training/meeting/conference facilities.
