Ebbw Vale Institute (EVi) continues to thrive as a vibrant venue as it hosts a wide variety of activities.

The new EVi Community Café opened on 12th April, serving up delicious drinks, sandwiches, soups and snacks to locals in the area with an official opening in the pipeline and a new Youth Club has started on 15th April, led by the Ebbw Vale and District Trust (EVAD).

Recent events and wrokshops have included:

The Guns, a four-piece rock band from South Wales, holding a gig at EVi on 16th April. They have gigged extensively and toured with the LostProphets, played the main stage at the Full Ponty and were nominated for a Welsh music award in their first year.

Dance 4 Soldiers: The public are invited to a 12-hour Street Dance event on 18th April, with all donations going to the Soldiers League charity (in support of Help for Heros, Combat Stress, Royal British Legion, BLESMA –helping limbless ex servicemen & women). EVi Staff and volunteers have committed their time to helping out at the event, providing free venue space and staffing for this worthwhile charity event.

The Works, an Ebbw Vale regeneration project to transform the former steelworks site, have been running art workshops for young people at EVi. They are currently putting the final touches to the art boards created by the young people, which will be displayed at The Works site during the Eisteddfod.

A series of Film and Drama workshops started on 27th April to produce a bilingual community play aiming to celebrate the myths and legends of Wales. The play will be performed during the Eisteddfod.

Community Music Wales will be running Tutor Training for Musicians workshops in May.
