You may have already heard of URL shorteners like bit.ly: they’re incredibly useful tools which have saved many a tweet from going over the character limit. But are you using them to their full potential?

Here are some lesser-known bit.ly tips:-

Customise the URL

While shortening a URL obviously saves on space, an obscure address is just as difficult to remember as a long one. If you’re linking to an article about cheese, for example, instead of settling for bit.ly/4jn58 choose to customise it to bit.ly/cheese.

Generate a QR Code

With a click of a button you can generate a unique QR code. Anyone who scans this code with their smartphone will be taken directly to the URL. Especially useful for adding to posters and other printed materials.

Stats Monitoring

See how effective your promotional campaigns are. Gather stats to see how many people clicked on each link, what website they saw it on, and the location of the viewers.

Gallwch weld pa mor effeithiol yw eich ymgyrchoedd hyrwyddo. Casglwch ystadegau i weld faint o bobl a gliciodd ar bob dolen, pa wefan a welsant trwy’r ddolen honno a lleoliad y gwylwyr.
